Vodafone UK has launched a new mobile phone insurance product that also covers broken screens on used and refurbished Apple iPhones and other models. The service, available to Pay Monthly and SIM-only customers, includes manufacturer-approved repairs with excess fees starting at € 29. The operator says the policy can be added at the moment of purchase or up to 37 months later.
Manufacturer-approved repairs and fast return
For an additional € 58, customers can opt for an express repair service, potentially returning the device within 24 hours. All repairs are carried out using manufacturer-approved parts, enhancing repair quality and extending device longevity.
A sustainable step for Vodafone
By including refurbished and used smartphones in its offer, Vodafone is encouraging longer device lifespans. A source in the mobile insurance industry called the three-claim-per-year policy “very generous,” and praised its potential for reducing e-waste.
International cover with a UK home base
Insurance covers travel abroad, although replacements or repaired phones can only be shipped to a UK address. Proof of purchase is required, and insurance starts at just € 2 per month, depending on the device.
Modelled on successful German schemes
The time-limited sign-up window echoes the approach of German insurer Wertgarantie, known for its flexible policies. Vodafone now claims to offer the widest range of mobile insurance options among UK networks, enhancing its offer in a highly competitive market.
