Recommerce Group has announced a new partnership with Vodafone Germany to support the launch of refurbished smartphones on refurbished.vodafone.de. This collaboration allows Vodafone customers to access high-quality refurbished Apple iPhones and other smartphones at affordable prices, while supporting sustainable consumption. The initiative aims to extend the lifespan of smartphones, avoiding the production of new devices and reducing emissions. According to Recommerce, each refurbished smartphone prevents 50kg of CO2 emissions compared to the manufacturing of a new one. Customers can save up to 40% compared to buying new devices, creating both economic and environmental benefits.
End-to-end circular solution
With this launch, Vodafone Germany offers an end-to-end circular solution that complements its existing trade-in program. Customers are able to return old devices through trade-in and purchase certified refurbished ones, effectively closing the loop in the smartphone lifecycle.
Long-term vision for sustainability
Recommerce has been enabling telecom operators to build sustainable offers since 2009. The company views this collaboration with Vodafone as an important milestone in making refurbished devices a mainstream alternative to new smartphones.

CEO highlights sustainability impact
Augustin Bequet, CEO of Recommerce Group, commented: “Our partnership with Vodafone is a decisive step forward for sustainability in the smartphone market: a refurbished smartphone avoids the emission of 50kg of CO2 compared to a new one. Together, we can reach more people who want to benefit from affordable and sustainable devices, with certified quality guaranteed by labels such as RECQ label.”
He added: “Vodafone has already been working with us on trade-in programs, and by now extending into refurbished sales, we offer customers a real alternative to buying new devices and close the loop for smartphones.”
Growing importance of refurbished devices
The refurbished smartphone market continues to grow in Europe, driven by rising demand for sustainable and affordable alternatives. Partnerships between telecom operators and refurbishers are expected to accelerate adoption, giving customers more reliable choices backed by certification and warranties.
