UTOPYA acquires Obsequ, strengthening position in European electronics spare parts market

UTOPYA, a major player in the electronics spare parts industry, has announced the acquisition of Obsequ, a well-established German distributor serving specialist retailers. The acquisition, visually presented in the company’s new campaign image, marks a decisive step in UTOPYA’s European expansion strategy and solidifies its long-term commitment to the German market. Founded in 2013, UTOPYA has developed into a leading B2B distributor for spare parts, accessories, and devices, with operations across three continents. The company serves over 12,000 customers and achieved € 107 million in turnover in 2024, representing a 35% year-over-year increase, while maintaining profitability and zero bank debt, according to the company

A perfect strategic fit

In a statement from UTOPYA’s CEO Aldric Meneghel, he states that the acquisition underlines a clear direction for his company’s future. “This acquisition sends a strong message: the future of our industry lies in consolidation and excellence,” he said. “By establishing a solid presence in Germany, we are laying the first stone of our global ambition.”

The German market, known for its high-quality standards and robust electronics repair ecosystem, is viewed by UTOPYA as a gateway for broader European growth. Carlo Alberto Rolando, Head of Strategy at UTOPYA, added that the acquisition offers immediate access to thousands of retail relationships and an experienced local team.

Commitment to continuity and service

For Obsequ’s 3,000-plus retail partners, the transition is designed to be seamless. UTOPYA is integrating Obsequ’s Siegburg operations into its wider European logistics network, ensuring uninterrupted supply and improved operational efficiency. Customers will gain access to an expanded product catalogue, including OEM spare parts from Samsung and other major brands, and 24-hour delivery across Europe from UTOPYA’s automated Lyon facility.

The company’s logistics are powered by advanced Autostore robotics and AI-controlled systems that maintain a 99.99% service level and first response times below 15 minutes. With reduced shipping costs, optimised packaging, and added access to new accessories and devices, customers will benefit from the full scope of UTOPYA’s infrastructure.

A foundation for European leadership

UTOPYA’s Lyon logistics hub stands out as one of the most advanced in Europe. It operates 90 smart robots managing 18,000 bins through an AI-driven Autostore system, complemented by CVP Impack automation capable of processing 400 parcels per hour. Orders placed before 8:30 PM are shipped the same day and reach customers anywhere in Europe within 24 hours.

By integrating Obsequ’s experienced workforce and local relationships, UTOPYA is not only enhancing its operational scale but also strengthening its strategic presence in one of Europe’s most competitive markets. The move reinforces the company’s ambition to become a continental leader in the spare parts and repair ecosystem, setting the foundation for further acquisitions in 2025.
