Dutch repair chain ThePhoneLab expands its services and started a share funding campaign

ThePhoneLab, a prominent repair chain in the Netherlands, continues to thrive with its 11 stores primarily located in the more populated central region but expanding rapidly into other parts of the country. Serving a wide range of smartphone users, ThePhoneLab has positioned itself as a key player in the repair industry. Notably, the company is an official authorized repair partner for Chinese brands. Additionally, as an Independent Repair Provider (IRP) for Apple, ThePhoneLab is authorized to conduct out-of-warranty repairs using Apple’s original parts, tools, and software.

Beyond repairs: Focus on circular economy

To diversify its services and offset relatively low repair margins, ThePhoneLab has embraced initiatives that support the circular economy. Through a partnership with Finnish refurbisher Swappie, the company serves as a physical collection point for trade-ins, catering to the 31% of Dutch consumers who prefer in-person drop-offs for the personalized service it provides. In addition, ThePhoneLab sells refurbished devices from Remarketed, a Dutch provider of second-hand phones, and also trade in via same company offering instant pay out to customers.

By offering repairs, trade-in services, and refurbished device sales, ThePhoneLab delivers a full spectrum of solutions aimed at prolonging smartphone lifespans, reducing e-waste, and supporting the circular economy.

Investing in growth and sustainability

ThePhoneLab has ambitious goals to grow its operations and make a positive environmental impact. Its mission includes extending the lifespan of 2 million devices by 2030, thereby reducing electronic waste globally. To achieve this, the company has launched a share funding campaign with a target of € 1.5 million in investments. As of now, ThePhoneLab has reached 75% of this goal, leaving € 373,000 to be raised.

According to the company, new stores become profitable within just one month, showcasing the efficiency of its growth model. By 2029, ThePhoneLab projects significant milestones, including:

  • 93 stores in operation;
  • € 45 million in revenue;
  • € 5.4 million EBITDA.

For investors, ThePhoneLab offers a unique opportunity to support sustainable growth while contributing to a circular economy. The company’s proven track record of profitability and expansion into international markets underlines its strong potential for success.
