Ranked in the top 1% of 130,000 global companies assessed by EcoVadis, Telia’s continued commitment to sustainability has placed it among an elite group of operators. Vodafone, Orange, KPN, and VodafoneZiggo also earned this prestigious recognition, highlighting the increasing importance of sustainable practices in the telecommunications sector.
Telia’s sustainability performance and EcoVadis evaluation
EcoVadis assesses companies based on 21 sustainability criteria across four key themes: Environment, Labor & Human Rights, Ethics, and Sustainable Procurement. For 2024, Telia achieved an impressive combined score of 87/100, up from 83/100 the previous year. The company’s significant improvement in sustainability can be attributed to strong performance in the Environment and Ethics categories.
In the Environment category, EcoVadis highlighted Telia’s use of 100% fossil-free renewable energy across its entire network, along with services that help consumers prolong the lifespan of their mobile devices. In the Ethics category, Telia demonstrated its commitment through robust anti-corruption risk assessments, training programs, and processes supporting information security, in addition to providing whistleblower mechanisms.
Ambitious sustainability goals and positive impact
Telia’s strong sustainability performance comes in line with its ambitious goals. The company aims to achieve net-zero emissions by 2040 and to impact 2.2 million people through digital inclusion initiatives by 2026.
