As the secondary smartphone market keeps growing, there’s a rising demand for high-quality parts and robotic solutions that work smoothly with constantly updated software. Aplong, a leading supplier of smartphone components, is stepping up with innovative products and a bold vision for the future.
SecondaryMarket.news sat down with Rui Du, European director at Aplong, in their Dutch office to explore the company's latest solutions and long-term strategy.
SecondaryMarket.news:
We’re excited to be here. Let’s talk about your Apple iPhone-compatible battery that’s been making waves. What makes it so special?
Rui Du/Aplong:
We're proud to introduce our new Identify Run Diagnostic Battery, a fully in-house development designed for seamless integration with iPhones. Its standout feature is true plug-and-play functionality — it operates flawlessly with Apple iOS 18, supports full diagnostics, and requires no flashing or pairing with the original battery management system (BMS)
SecondaryMarket.news:
So from the user’s perspective, it works just like an OEM battery? What is the technical functionality?
Rui Du/Aplong:
Exactly. It begins at 100% capacity and discharges smoothly, without any unexpected drops — mirroring the behavior of a genuine battery. For refurbishment and repair professionals, it’s a reliable, hassle-free solution that’s easy to install and fully aligned with today’s performance standards.
To achieve this, we've embedded the original battery chip directly onto the new protection board, enabling the system to identify it as a genuine part. This eliminates pop-up warnings and displays the battery as previously used, just like an OEM component. Combined with an advanced power meter, the battery delivers accurate performance data and reliable power management.
SecondaryMarket.news:
Are there any new innovations you're working on in iPhone LCD screen technology? Tell us more.
Rui Du/Aplong:
Absolutely. The LCDs we offer are all genuine parts and fully compatible with iPhones running iOS 18. They support self-diagnosis through the system and are recognized as original components — so no “unknown part” warnings appear. To further simplify the repair process, we offer the option to pre-solder the original integrated circuit (IC) onto the new screen. This service can help refurbishers and repairers cut screen replacement time in half, streamlining operations and improving efficiency. With full support for running diagnostics, our LCDs ensure a smooth, professional refurbishment and repair experience from start to finish.
SecondaryMarket.news:
So repair technicians can deliver a premium experience without additional steps?
Rui Du/Aplong:
Exactly. We’ve also added a self-adaptive refresh rate of up to 120Hz, which means smoother visuals and at top-tier level user experience, all while keeping power consumption low. It’s a major upgrade that feels premium from the very first touch.
SecondaryMarket.news:
You’ve clearly made big moves with product innovation. But what about the robot you mentioned?
Rui Du/Aplong:
Yes, this is where things get exciting. We strongly believe that automation will play a key role in shaping the future of mobile refurbishment and repair. That’s why we’re developing a robot specifically designed to support and streamline the refurbishment process. It helps minimize human error, increases efficiency, and ensures more consistent results.
As a company deeply embedded in China’s advanced supply chain, we’re also leveraging the power of the country’s smart industrial ecosystem to accelerate development. This strategic position enables us to bring intelligent, scalable solutions to the global refurbishment market. We’re currently finalizing the details and look forward to unveiling more soon.
SecondaryMarket.news:
Sounds like a big leap forward. When can we expect more?
Rui Du/Aplong:
It’s part of our long-term vision, and we’re investing heavily in R&D to get it right. Prototypes are currently in testing, and we’re refining them based on real-world scenarios. Our mission is to empower the secondary market with not just smarter parts, but smarter processes.
SecondaryMarket.news:
Last question — how would you define Aplong’s role in the evolving refurbishment ecosystem?
Rui Du/Aplong:
We see Aplong as a bridge between innovation and sustainability. Whether it's a smarter battery, a high-end LCD, or a next-generation robot, our goal is to make mobile repair and refurbishment faster, more professional, and more eco-friendly. The future of mobile is circular — and Aplong is here to help shape that future.
SecondaryMarket.news:
Thank you for your time.
Rui Du/Aplong:
Thank you, it’s been a pleasure. We’re just getting started.
