In its 2024 “Impact Report,” Apkudo reaffirms its role as a leading force in reshaping how the world approaches electronic waste. As a data-driven platform for connected devices, Apkudo enables companies to make informed decisions about device reuse, dramatically improving sustainability efforts across the industry.
Extending device life through insight
Apkudo’s platform tracks the full lifecycle of connected devices, from initial use to refurbishment and resale. In 2023, the company developed a model to calculate the avoided environmental impact from extending device life. By 2024, this methodology was validated by EcoAct (part of Schneider Electric), aligning it with ISO standards.
Massive environmental benefits achieved
The report outlines major milestones: 16 million devices processed, 6,010 tonnes of e-waste diverted from landfills, and € 3.4 billion in resale value generated. Their system also helped avoid 1.08 million tonnes of CO2 emissions, reduced gold consumption by 250 kg, and saved 136.4 billion litres of water—the equivalent of annual usage by over 548,000 U.S. households.
Transparency is key to sustainability
Apkudo continues to refine its tools to offer clients customized reports and precise carbon data for connected devices, including updated CO2 values for smartphones like the Apple iPhone. These insights are increasingly vital for organizations aiming to meet Scope 3 emissions requirements.
Looking ahead to 2025
Next year, Apkudo will expand its services to new geographies and enhance reporting capabilities. Plans include benchmarking tools, custom consulting, and training programs to help companies align with circularity goals while reducing environmental footprints.
