Swiss mobilezone brand of used smartphones justit reported rapid growth

Mobilezone, an independent telecom retailer, founded in 1999. offers mobile phones, subscriptions, and accessories, operating in Switzerland and Germany with online and physical stores, reported that their ‘The Second Life’ segment, which includes smartphone repairs and refurbishments, continued to gain traction. Sales of refurbished devices under the jusit brand surged by 84% to 16,300 units. This represents 9.1% of all smartphones sold by mobilezone in Switzerland, up from 4.3% in the previous year. This significant increase underscores growing consumer interest in sustainable and certified refurbished devices.

The expansion of the Second Life segment highlights a broader industry trend toward a circular economy. With sustainability at the forefront, demand for high-quality refurbished smartphones continues to rise. Mobilezone’s commitment to certified refurbishment aligns with changing customer preferences, reinforcing the business potential in this segment.

Financial performance remains stable

Adjusted for currency effects and special items amounting to € 20 million, mobilezone reported total sales of € 1.02 billion, reflecting a 1.2% increase. Of these, 73% originated from Germany and 27% from Switzerland. The company’s gross profit stood at € 190.6 million, while adjusted operating income (EBIT) reached € 52.7 million with a margin of 5.2%.
