PanzerGlass: leading the charge in screen protection and sustainability

PanzerGlass, a Danish company founded in 2013, has become a leading name in screen protection technology for electronic devices. Headquartered in Hinnerup, Denmark, the company specializes in crafting high-quality tempered glass protectors for smartphones, tablets, laptops, and smartwatches. Renowned for their durability and resilience, PanzerGlass screen protectors and cases shield devices from scratches, cracks, and general wear and tear. These protectors come with features such as anti-glare, anti-bacterial coatings, privacy filters, and edge-to-edge protection, elevating their appeal to both personal users and businesses.

Commitment to sustainability

In response to increasing demand for eco-conscious products, PanzerGlass has aligned its offerings with sustainability practices. Notably, the company has developed a specialized line for the secondary market, including bulk packaging for screen protectors and protective cases. These products are designed to extend device longevity, which contributes to reducing electronic waste, in line with the growing shift toward sustainable technology.

Maximizing device value

Additionally, applying a screen protector can help maximize the residual value of mobile devices. It is widely understood that a Grade A smartphone holds more value than a device graded C or D. By using a screen protector on used devices, visible scratches on the screens can be effectively concealed, enhancing their appearance and making them more attractive to potential buyers. This simple step can significantly improve the device's resale prospects and perceived value, facilitating a quicker and more profitable sale.

Global reach and partnerships

Operating in over 70 countries, PanzerGlass has forged strong partnerships with major retailers, telecommunications providers, and electronic device manufacturers. The company emphasizes continuous innovation, ensuring that its products evolve alongside the latest advancements in device design and sustainability trends. This dedication to sustainability was underscored in September with the release of their Product Environmental Report, which introduced a circular life cycle approach aimed at reducing the company’s carbon footprint and enhancing resource efficiency while maintaining product quality.

Recycled materials commitment

A key highlight of this approach is the company's commitment to using recycled materials. PanzerGlass has incorporated a higher percentage of recycled glass and plastic into all its production processes, reducing the need for raw material extraction. The current offerings boast 100% Global Recycled Standard (GRS) certified plastic and 60% GRS certified glass, positioning PanzerGlass well above industry standards in terms of eco-friendly innovation.

Sustainable packaging initiatives

Additionally, PanzerGlass has made strides in improving its packaging, cutting paper use by over 66% in 2022, all while using FSC-certified materials. This reduction was achieved without any loss to the woodlands, as part of the company's commitment to environmentally sustainable sourcing. Furthermore, the use of sea freight in their logistics operations has significantly lowered their carbon emissions, preventing hundreds of tonnes (from 2022 - 2023 alone already 458 tonnes) of CO2 from entering the atmosphere.

Manufacturing sustainability efforts

The company's sustainability initiatives extend to its manufacturing facilities as well. PanzerGlass, accredited with ISO 14064, documents carbon emissions across its operations and implements water recycling systems to cut both water consumption and pollution. Their Take Back Systems, which allow for the recycling of old screen protectors and cases, ensure that even worn products are reused in new production cycles, no matter the brand.

In 2024, PanzerGlass submitted six case studies, ranging from recycled glass screen protectors to recycled TPU phone cases, as part of their ISO verification process. These efforts reflect the company's comprehensive strategy to balance innovation, sustainability, and the highest standards of quality, cementing PanzerGlass as a leader in both screen protection and environmental responsibility.
