Sustainability drives PanzerGlass business model

In 2024, Danish screen protector brand PanzerGlass made sustainability a core part of its business strategy. The company fully embedded environmental, social, and governance (ESG) objectives into its operations, guided by a Double Materiality Assessment (DMA) that considers both the company’s impact on society and the financial risks linked to sustainability. This assessment was informed by input from a wide range of stakeholders, including employees, management, suppliers, and customers. PanzerGlass is not the only accessory brand putting sustainability front and center—fellow Danish company dBramante1928 and German brand Vonmählen also position sustainability as a key selling point.

Certified carbon reporting and net-zero targets

PanzerGlass achieved ISO 14064 certification for its 2023 carbon footprint in May 2024, verified by Bureau Veritas. In November, its net-zero targets were approved by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi): a 42% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2030, and a 90% reduction across Scope 1, 2 and 3 by 2045, compared to 2023. Total 2024 GHG emissions amounted to 11,497.82 tCO2e, up from 7,620.46 tCO2e in 2023, with Scope 3 remaining dominant.

Circular design and lower-impact packaging

The company developed products using up to 60% GRS-certified recycled glass and implemented lifecycle thinking, validated by LCA analysis for over 1,000 products. Its factories now all use water recycling. Packaging improvements include a 66% reduction in paper use since 2022 and elimination of single-use plastics is in progress.

Social innovation through 4-day workweek

Under its “Positive Embracing Diversity” pillar, PanzerGlass trialled a 4-day workweek aimed at improving work-life balance without reducing pay. The initiative yielded strong results: 91% employee satisfaction, low absenteeism, and 96% rating PanzerGlass a Great Place to Work. The company hired 78 new employees with a low first-year attrition rate of 0.53%.

Data integrity and supply chain collaboration

On governance, the “Integrity Creating Trust” pillar emphasises transparency and global standardisation. The company invested in digital tools for ESG data collection and shared externally verified product-level CO2 data with clients. The Factory Engagement Program promoted best practices like carbon reduction and material reuse across suppliers. No violations or penalties related to corruption were reported in 2024.

PanzerGlass aligns with global standards

PanzerGlass aligns with SBTi, FSC, GRS and ISO standards. It also engages with Dansk Standard, ISO and UNDP to help shape global SDG reporting frameworks. Biodiversity initiatives, including ocean clean-up projects with The Perfect World Foundation, raised over € 186,000.
