OPPO launches trade-in program in Spain

OPPO has officially launched its trade-in program on the Spanish version of its website oppo.com, allowing customers to exchange their old smartphones for credit towards new devices. The launch represents a key step in making upgrades more accessible and sustainable for Spanish consumers. This expansion is supported by Danghuan, OPPO’s wholly owned subsidiary, established in 2018, which specializes in second-hand electronics services and is now considered one of the leading players in that field in China.

A strategic global initiative

OPPO’s trade-in program has become a central part of its global strategy to boost sales, foster brand loyalty, and support environmental responsibility. By enabling customers to return their used devices in exchange for a discount on a new OPPO model, the company encourages both device upgrades and recycling. The program also contributes to a circular economy by ensuring refurbished devices remain in circulation rather than ending up as e-waste.

Expansion through phased rollouts

The trade-in initiative has been gradually rolled out in markets worldwide. It was first introduced in Australia in April 2021, followed by Singapore in August 2021 with a focus on the Reno6 Pro 5G. Since then, OPPO has implemented similar programs in India, Malaysia, the United Kingdom, and Kenya. Each launch demonstrates the company’s efforts to appeal to a price-conscious customer base while building long-term engagement.

Partnerships driving the program

To deliver its trade-in services, OPPO collaborates with specialized partners in different regions. In Southeast Asia, the company works with CompAsia, while in India it partners with Cashify. In Kenya, OPPO has teamed up with Badili, and in the United Kingdom the program is managed by Five Tech Ltd. These partners handle the valuation, logistics, and secure data wiping of traded-in devices, ensuring the process is smooth and trustworthy for consumers.

How the trade-in process works

The trade-in journey starts with an online valuation on OPPO’s website or that of a designated partner. Customers enter details about their device, such as brand, model, and condition, and receive an estimated trade-in value. The device is then inspected either through shipping or at a drop-off location. After physical assessment, a final offer is made. If accepted, the trade-in value is deducted from the cost of a new OPPO smartphone. OPPO’s program accepts a wide range of devices, not limited to OPPO models but also including Apple iPhones, Samsung, and Google smartphones.

Market reception and consumer response

Reception of OPPO’s trade-in program has been generally positive. Customers value the convenience and the ability to reduce the cost of new smartphones. Some reviews, however, note that final valuations can be lower than initial online estimates. Despite this, the initiative has successfully contributed to OPPO’s competitiveness by driving sales, supporting brand retention, and positioning the company as an environmentally conscious smartphone manufacturer. With its arrival in Spain, OPPO further strengthens its European presence while aligning its growth strategy with sustainability goals.
