Lenovo launches certified refurbished solution in Denmark

Lenovo, largest computer manufacturer in the world, is taking significant steps in promoting circularity and aiding organizations in achieving their net zero targets. The tech giant has recently launched its Certified Refurbished Solution in Denmark, marking a pivotal move towards sustainable IT practices in the Nordic region. Denmark’s strong commitment to sustainability made it an ideal launchpad for Lenovo’s Certified Refurbished program. The country has long been a leader in environmental initiatives, from its widespread use of renewable energy to its pioneering recycling laws. With Denmark’s public procurement agency, SKI, rolling out new measures to encourage the adoption of refurbished devices, Lenovo’s initiative aligns perfectly with the country’s green agenda.

The Certified Refurbished Solution is designed to extend the life cycle of Lenovo’s best-in-class PCs and servers. By offering refurbished devices, Lenovo not only supports the reduction of electronic waste but also helps organizations minimize their carbon footprints. This aligns with Denmark’s broader sustainability efforts and provides businesses with a viable option to meet their IT needs while adhering to environmental standards.

Lenovo’s approach to sustainability

Lenovo's Certified Refurbished Solution is more than just an environmental initiative; it represents a holistic approach to sustainable IT. The program caters to a growing demand for end-to-end sustainability solutions, offering services like asset recovery to ensure secure and documented disposal of IT hardware and data.

The refurbishment process is rigorous, with each device undergoing thorough data sanitization and testing to meet Lenovo’s high standards of quality and performance. Only after passing these stringent checks does a device receive Lenovo's official certification, ensuring that customers receive products they can depend on.

The refurbished devices, which are typically three to four years old, are upgraded with original parts as needed and are fully compatible with Windows 11. This ensures that businesses not only reduce waste but also continue to operate with reliable and up-to-date technology. Moreover, each device comes with a standard one-year warranty, with options to extend up to three years, offering peace of mind to customers.

Driving a more mainstream adoption of refurbished technology

While the global market for refurbished PCs is still relatively small, with a market size of under US$ 5 billion in 2022 compared to US$ 220 billion for new devices, it is expected to grow significantly. Projections suggest that by 2031, the refurbished PC market could reach a value of US$ 11.8 billion.

Lenovo's introduction of its Certified Refurbished program in Denmark is a strategic step towards capturing a share of this growing market. By providing high-quality refurbished products, Lenovo is not only helping organizations meet their sustainability goals but also contributing to the mainstream adoption of refurbished technology.
