ITC Malta brings quality networking to the secondary tech sector

ITC Malta isn’t your typical industry event. It’s a carefully curated networking experience tailored for professionals in mobile phones, IT components, and consumer electronics. Unlike the sometimes-crowded chaos of some more traditional trade shows, ITC Malta offers a relaxed yet premium environment where genuine business relationships can thrive. The event prioritises quality over quantity, featuring a handpicked guest list and conversations that matter. As the secondary and refurbished tech market continues to gain momentum, ITC Malta has become a key gathering point for companies committed to circularity and sustainability. With this in mind, SecondaryMarket.news boarded a plane to experience ITC Malta firsthand. It turned out to be an even better experience than we had ever anticipated.

Launched in 2012 by IPT, the event has seen remarkable growth over the years. This edition welcomed more than 800 highly engaged decision-makers from the new, used, and refurbished smartphone market, as well as from the IT components and broader consumer electronics industries.

Networking with a difference

Its slogan, “networking with a difference,” truly came to life. What is usually a two-minute walk from the hotel to the nearby beach club turned into a 35-minute journey—because we kept bumping into familiar faces from across the industry. It was the perfect setting to reconnect with old contacts and begin creating new memories.

ITC Malta also offers the ideal setting to forge lasting relationships and uncover new business opportunities in an industry that’s constantly evolving. Around 46 companies showcased their solutions at the event. 25 in the dedicated used and secondary market hall, including major global players such as Tekeir, Sunstrike, Phonecheck, PCS Wireless, USMP, ecoATM, BlackBelt, eBay, NSYS, Basatne, and Alchemy. Once again, the emphasis was on quality over quantity.

Full program offered

What truly sets ITC Malta apart is its fully informal social programme: relaxed lunches, elegant dinners at a historic Italian villa, and late-night networking events. It’s all about building authentic connections in a welcoming and memorable atmosphere, something SecondaryMarket.news experienced throughout the entire event.

People buy from people

During ITC Malta, we had a chance to briefly catch up with longtime organiser Ed Elliot-Square for his perspective on this year’s edition. He highlighted the core of the event: “It’s all about connecting with real people. In our business, your network is everything. People buy from people: that’s why ITC Malta is built around real-time, face-to-face networking.”

He went on to explain: “It’s about creating value from one visitor to another. The goal is to foster meaningful meetings and high-quality interactions. We support this with tools like our meeting scheduler, comprehensive online and printed directories, and, of course, the hands-on assistance of the ITC host team.”

And the concept is clearly a success. Visitors come from as far as Hong Kong, Australia, the USA, Canada, South Africa, South America, and even New Zealand. According to Ed Elliot-Square, the best part is that they don’t just come once after experiencing ITC Malta, they keep coming back.

Thank you

A big thank you to Ed and the entire organising team, they truly made a difference. Now begins the wait for next year’s ITC Malta. We’re not sure how we’ll manage to wait that long.
