IT service provider ilionx has introduced ZeroWaste, a circular digital workspace designed to address e-waste in managed end-user devices like laptops. With this initiative, ilionx integrates a closed-loop model into its core services, becoming the first Managed Service Provider (MSP) in the Netherlands to implement the One for One model developed by Closing the Loop.
One for One model embedded
For every device entering ilionx’s ZeroWaste environment, an end-of-life equivalent is collected and recycled. This marks a significant expansion for Closing the Loop, as its model moves from compensating direct hardware sales to being fully integrated into managed IT services.
Long-term partners since 2023
ilionx and Closing the Loop have been collaborating since 2023, with the IT provider using the One for One service for internal hardware. With ZeroWaste, this partnership evolves to benefit ilionx clients directly by embedding sustainability into their IT infrastructure.
A dual approach to circularity
ZeroWaste uses a two-part system. Closing the Loop offsets new hardware entering the managed environment, while Stichting Allemaal Digitaal ensures sustainable IT asset disposal (ITAD) for devices exiting the system. This combination allows clients to reduce environmental impact affordably and efficiently.
CSR focus strengthened in 2024
The launch builds on ilionx’s 2024 CSR report, which highlighted its commitment to digital sustainability. By expanding the partnership with Closing the Loop, ilionx demonstrates its drive to offer clients more socially responsible and circular IT solutions.
