Swiss MVNO mobilezone, active in both Switzerland and Germany, has recorded significant growth in refurbished smartphone sales during the first half of 2025. Its jusit brand sold 10,600 refurbished devices, a 47.8% increase compared with the previous year. Refurbished smartphones now account for 13% of all smartphones sold in Switzerland by mobilezone, up from 8.1% a year earlier. However, no word how used and refurbished devices are doing in Germany. The company confirmed that profitability in repairs and refurbishment also improved, reflecting growing customer interest in sustainable device cycles.
Strong demand for sustainable options
The jusit brand, launched to meet demand for certified refurbished devices, achieved its best sales month to date in June. With consumers increasingly opting for refurbished Apple iPhone and other devices, Mobilezone is strengthening its position in the Second Life segment. The focus on refurbishment aligns with broader industry trends toward sustainability and extending product lifecycles.
Success trade-in market unknown
Mobilezone stands out as one of the few Mobile Virtual Network Operators (MVNOs) to actively develop a resale and refurbishment strategy, possibly the only one known to do so. However, the company has not disclosed any details about its trade-in operations, which it offers online. The lack of transparency suggests that results may not be particularly strong.

Outlook for refurbishment growth
Mobilezone confirmed its full-year EBIT guidance at € 54–61 million (CHF 53–60 million) and signalled that Second Life activities will remain a growth driver. The company expects refurbished smartphones to further increase their share of total sales, with sustainability becoming a central part of its consumer offering.
