Grest opens first company owned store in India

Grest has opened its first company owned store in Gurugram, marking a significant step for the Indian re commerce startup as it expands its retail footprint. The launch highlights the company’s effort to strengthen direct engagement with consumers and reinforce its market position in India’s fast growing refurbished electronics sector.

Funding and expansion strategy

Grest recently secured € 1.7 million in funding, a development that supports its acceleration in an increasingly competitive industry. The round was led by equentis with participation from The Chennai Angels, Lead Invest, and India Accelerator. The company plans to use the funding to expand its retail presence beyond sixty stores, upgrade its 20,000 square foot refurbishment lab, and further enhance both its ecommerce and B2B platforms. The strategic investment signals investor confidence in the rising demand for refurbished electronics across India.

Market performance and growth

The company reports selling more than fifteen thousand devices in FY25. Revenue increased from € 270,000 in FY23 to € 2.4 million in FY25, underscoring the growing acceptance of refurbished devices as affordability and sustainability gain importance among Indian consumers. Grest collaborates with more than one hundred spare part suppliers, manages five hundred SKUs, and operates a redistributor network exceeding three hundred partners. Its partnerships with Flipkart, Croma, Reliance Digital, Sangeetha Mobiles, and Apple premium resellers have strengthened its visibility across multiple sales channels.

Origins and mission

Founded by Shrey Sardana and Nitin Goyal, Grest evolved from an earlier brand identity known as Gadget Restore. The company transitioned to the Grest name due to trust related concerns associated with the earlier brand in India. Today, Grest focuses on the restoration and sale of premium refurbished devices including Apple iPhone models, MacBooks, and high-end laptops. Based in Gurugram, the company aims to reduce the affordability gap for young Indian consumers by providing high quality devices at more accessible prices supported by strict quality standards.

Quality and sustainability focus

Grest highlights that each device undergoes more than fifty checks before entering the market. The company provides a warranty to support buyer confidence, positioning this rigorous process as part of India’s broader sustainability movement. By extending the lifecycle of premium devices, Grest seeks to contribute to national efforts to reduce e waste while offering consumers reliable alternatives to new electronics.

A symbolic inauguration

The store’s opening carried personal significance for the founders. The ribbon was cut by the parents of Sardana and Goyal, reflecting the values of trust, humility, resilience, and purpose that underpin the company’s development. Team members were present at the event, marking a key moment in Grest’s journey from a startup to a more established player in the sector.

Defining the physical identity

The new retail space serves as a tangible representation of the Grest brand. It offers customers a location where they can evaluate refurbished devices in person and experience the company’s quality standards first hand. Grest views this physical presence as a foundation for strengthening transparency, building trust, and establishing deeper customer relationships as part of a broader direct to consumer strategy.

Looking ahead

As India’s refurbished electronics market continues to expand, Grest plans to use this milestone as a launchpad for future developments. With increasing awareness of refurbished Apple iPhone models and other premium devices, the company intends to build on its retail strategy, operational scale, and commitment to sustainability as it enters the next phase of growth.
