Australasian e-waste manager Greenbox Group has strengthened its footprint in Australia by acquiring ICT asset disposal and data sanitisation specialist EraseIT from Interactive. Founded in 2009, EraseIT has built its reputation on reuse, refurbishment, and responsible recycling, which aligns closely with Greenbox’s mission to eliminate e-waste while mitigating environmental and data security risks.
With 25 years of experience, Greenbox is a recognised leader in technology lifecycle management and was the first in its sector to achieve carbon-neutral certification. The acquisition extends Greenbox’s network, services, and client base across the region, ensuring more organisations can benefit from sustainable IT practices.
Benefits for clients
Greenbox Group CEO Ross Thompson highlighted that the acquisition brings growth opportunities for both organisations: “Bringing EraseIT into the Greenbox fold means that together we have an expanded footprint across new locations, stronger systems and services to support customers, and access to a wide network of Australasian clients. All existing EraseIT clients will enjoy these benefits.”
A full business review of EraseIT is underway, with no final decisions yet on rebranding, integration into the Greenbox umbrella, or employee transitions.
Driving the circular economy
This deal underscores the importance of addressing e-waste, currently the fastest-growing waste stream globally. Greenbox has already prevented over 106 million kg of CO₂ emissions and diverted 330,000 kg of toxic metals from landfill.
EraseIT’s history and operations
Based in Melbourne, EraseIT became part of Interactive in 2018. Its capabilities span onsite decommissioning, asset tracking, certified data erasure, and responsible disposal or remarketing. Interactive CEO Alexandra Coates noted that the acquisition positions both companies for long-term success: “EraseIT is joining a specialist owner with deep expertise in sustainable IT asset management, giving it the scale and investment to meet evolving market demands and deliver even greater value to customers. As part of Greenbox Group, EraseIT will be at the forefront of cleantech innovation and circular economy leadership across Australasia.”
Strategic growth in Australasia
This acquisition follows Greenbox’s March purchase of New Zealand-based RemarkIT, which quadrupled its workforce and expanded its regional reach. With EraseIT now onboard, Greenbox continues to build a sustainable, pan-Australasian technology lifecycle management network.
