Google Pixel 9a launch hit by delays due to possible overheating issues

Google’s latest budget smartphone, the Pixel 9a, has faced an unexpected setback ahead of its official release, as we published earlier. According to Google, the delay is due to a “component quality issue,” though no further details have been provided. However, a recent leak suggests that the problem could be related to overheating, particularly around the camera. Tech leaker @techauntyji, posting on X and cited by Phone Arena, claimed that a “very high profile phone” was delayed due to “heating probs. Especially around the camera.” While the leaker did not explicitly mention the Google Pixel 9a, speculation strongly points in that direction.

Is it a hardware or software issue?

There is some uncertainty about whether this issue stems from faulty hardware or software that could be fixed with an update. Google’s wording suggests a hardware-related flaw, but the leaker indicated that a software patch might resolve the problem. Given the leaker’s limited track record, this claim should be taken with caution.

Expected launch in April

Despite the delay, the Google Pixel 9a is expected to launch in April and will be priced at € 549 in Europe. However, some consumers might hesitate to buy the device since it lacks key features available in other Pixel 9 models, such as advanced AI tools and Satellite SOS.
