German operator Freenet launches Google Pixel 10 trade-in bonus with Dis-Connect

German telecom provider Freenet has launched a special Google Pixel 10 ‘Bonusactie’ in partnership with service and repair company Dis-Connect. The campaign, probably subsidized by Google, offers customers who trade in their old smartphones or tablets a bonus of up to € 250 on top of the device’s trade-in value. The promotion highlights the growing role of structured trade-in programs in driving new device sales while supporting sustainable consumer choices.

Background on Freenet and Dis-Connect

Freenet is one of Germany’s largest independent telecommunications providers, offering mobile services, internet, TV, and digital lifestyle solutions to millions of customers. Its focus on flexible offers and customer-centric services has made it a key player in the German market. Dis-Connect, which manages the trade-in process both online and in Freenet’s shops, specializes in repair, refurbishment, and trade-in services, ensuring older devices are assessed, valued, and processed efficiently.

How the promotion works

The Google Pixel 10 trade-in promotion runs from 21 August to 11 September 2025. To participate, customers must have their old device valued by 30 September 2025 and sent in by 25 October 2025. After entering the IMEI code of their new Pixel 10, they will receive a valuation offer, followed by a free shipping label via email. Once the device is received, Dis-Connect pays out the trade-in value directly to the customer’s bank account, along with the bonus if not already applied at purchase.

T-Mobile USA offers Pixel 10 for free

Across the Atlantic, the launch of the Google Pixel 10 has been marked by a strikingly different promotion. In the United States, T-Mobile is offering the standard Google Pixel 10 for free with most data plans, without requiring any trade-in. Customers only need to cover sales tax and a $ 35 activation fee. This makes the Pixel 10, priced at $ 799 (€ 739), accessible at no upfront cost for new and existing subscribers who add a line.

This strategy may attract additional customers for T-Mobile, but it is not economically sustainable in the long term. It also reduces the volume of devices entering the secondary mobile market. SecondaryMarket.news hopes that U.S. carriers will introduce more balanced trade-in programs with the upcoming Apple iPhone launch in September. For now, we wait and see.

Google Pixel 10 features

The Google Pixel 10 series, including the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, and Pixel 10 Pro XL, is powered by the new Tensor G5 chipset and features an upgraded triple camera system, enhanced AI-driven software, and seven years of OS and security updates. The Pixel 10 also becomes the first major Android smartphone to support Qi2 MagSafe wireless charging.

Trade-in and subsidy strategies compared

The contrast between Freenet’s structured trade-in bonus in Germany and T-Mobile’s aggressive subsidy in the United States highlights two different strategies in promoting the Google Pixel 10. In Europe, trade-in programs supported by partners like Dis-Connect encourage recycling and reuse of older devices, while in the U.S., operators still use subsidies and plan-based discounts to rapidly increase adoption of new flagship smartphones.
