Foxway embraces circularity with data-backed climate progress

According to Foxway’s latest impact report, the company is making real progress on its climate goals. In 2024, the company saw its emission reduction targets officially validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), marking a significant step in aligning with the Paris Agreement’s 1.5°C ambition. Last year Foxway repaired, traded-in and sold over 2.7 million devices with a revenue of € 683 million.

Recommerce helps reduce emissions

Foxway’s core strategy remains simple but powerful: extend device lifespans to reduce manufacturing emissions. Production alone accounts for over 80% of a device’s total environmental impact. By scaling up its trade-in and resale operations, Foxway helped avoid an estimated 56,000 tons of CO2e in 2024 compared to 2023. Despite an increase in the volume of refurbished devices, total emissions dropped by more than 1% year-on-year. Foxway’s own carbon handprint—a measure of positive climate impact—remained a central indicator of success.

Circularity needs sufficiency too

Foxway is clear that circularity without sufficiency misses the mark. The company prioritizes high-quality devices that can survive multiple cycles and rejects the idea that short-term savings should compromise long-term reuse potential. Its Device as a Service (DaaS) offering exemplifies this mindset, enabling enterprises to access premium devices without ownership burdens. Internally, over 90% of Foxway’s own IT fleet now consists of refurbished hardware. Which makes absolute sense if your core business is selling used products.

Tangible sustainability improvements in 2024

Foxway improved energy efficiency by 3% relative to revenue in 2024, with nearly 90% of its electricity covered by renewable energy certificates. Waste management also moved forward: out of 1,264 tons of total waste, only 0.7% was hazardous. The company reused over 1 million parts, including packaging and components, and embedded e-waste collection programs in the Global South as part of its extended service model.

Net-Zero is the direction, not a slogan

As climate challenges mount, Foxway continues to advocate for a systemic shift in how technology is produced, consumed and valued. Their long-term ambition goes beyond compliance and optics. For Foxway, Net-Zero is not a buzzword but a responsibility rooted in science, accountability and repairable change. Its commitment to sufficiency, degrowth principles and measurable results sets a new bar for circular tech leaders.
