Flip, Romania’s leading refurbishment company and part of the eMag group, has built its business on a principle that defines its position in the circular economy. Scale without control is only volume. Since its founding, Flip has prioritised building a system that grows intentionally, maintains quality and creates measurable impact, rather than expanding rapidly without structure.
Early foundations built in-house
When Flip began operations in 2019, the company employed a team of 10 people. Each team member played an essential role in designing the organisation’s refurbishment framework. Technical diagnostics, component replacement, visual grading and resale readiness were all created internally. Every process was tied to clarity, consistency and customer trust. This foundation became the backbone that allowed Flip to scale sustainably in later years.
Preparing for international expansion
By 2021, demand for refurbished devices increased significantly, prompting Flip to prepare for cross border expansion. The team grew to 65 colleagues, a number that reflected the maturity of Flip’s refurbishment flow and the need for deeper alignment between supply, service and logistics. These internal developments created a stable base for market expansion.
Rapid acceleration across Europe
In 2022, Flip expanded beyond Romania into Bulgaria and Hungary. The team grew to 163 people, including new specialists who joined to support refurbishing phones, tablets, watches, laptops and game consoles. One year later, following the company’s launch in Greece and the strengthening of its regional operations, Flip reached 250 colleagues. Of these, 153 were service specialists focused on inspection and repair.
Controlled scale and technical strength
Today Flip has 286 employees, with 200 technical specialists working directly on device refurbishment. This carefully managed growth shows how the company has developed the operational readiness required to serve partners in regulated environments with high expectations for quality and compliance. Flip’s model is based on full process ownership and strict in-house control of refurbishment activities.

Traceable and certified refurbishment
Every device goes through a fully documented and certified refurbishment process. Testing, diagnostics, repairs, grading and packaging are carried out with authorised tools and clearly defined criteria. All steps are logged, ensuring traceability from the first inspection to the final packaging. Flip’s transparent classification and closed loop repair flow reinforce its commitment to quality and accountability.
Supporting partners in circular tech
For retailers and operators integrating refurbished devices into consumer programmes, Flip’s controlled processes lower commercial risk. End to end traceability supports ESG reporting, reduces return rates and strengthens long term customer trust. Flip’s systems allow partners to participate in a circular tech ecosystem without compromising on quality, compliance or operational clarity.
