Romanian recommerce platform Flip recorded a year of strong expansion in Bulgaria in 2022, showing how regional consistency in refurbished technology requires attention to local needs. The company prioritised product quality, payment methods familiar to Bulgarian consumers, and efficient delivery solutions.
Significant growth in volume and value
Flip Bulgaria achieved an 83% year-on-year increase in sales volume and an 89% increase in transaction value in 2022. This growth was driven by operational excellence, clear grading standards, and consumer confidence in warranties and return policies. The results illustrate how refurbished devices can achieve scalable success in emerging markets.

Leveraging the Romanian model
Founded in late 2019 by Alin Luca, Alex Burghelia, and George Moroianu, Flip has developed a vertically integrated model combining sourcing, refurbishment, and direct online sales. In Bulgaria, this model was adapted to include localised customer service, preferred Bulgarian payment options, and logistics partners capable of meeting delivery expectations.
Building trust in refurbished devices
By applying its multi-point testing and component replacement process to Apple iPhones, tablets, and laptops, Flip offers Bulgarian customers a standardised and reliable alternative to second-hand marketplaces. This combination of quality control and consumer-friendly policies supports the brand’s reputation and market share growth in the country.
