Fairphone, a European based manufacturer of sustainable smartphones, has recently won the Computable Award in the Sustainable Tech category, receiving recognition for its commitment to sustainability and innovation in the tech industry. The award was presented during a ceremony at De Polar in Utrecht, celebrating the company’s achievements. This recognition highlights the Fairphone 5, which was launched in 2023.
Judges: Fairphone 5, a sustainable innovation
The Fairphone 5 stands out for its eco-conscious design, offering five years of warranty and software support until at least 2031. The smartphone is made from ethically sourced and sustainable materials, positioning it as e-waste neutral and climate friendly. With these features, Fairphone is challenging the tech industry to adopt more responsible manufacturing practices.

Not alone
The Computable Award is just the latest in a series of honors for Fairphone in 2023. Earlier this year, the company also received the GLOMO Award for Best Mobile Innovation for Climate Action at the Mobile World Congress in February. Additionally, in May, Fairphone was presented with the Koning Willem I Award in the category of Sustainable Entrepreneurship.
