The European Refurbishment Association (EUREFAS) has reached 25 member companies across 13 European countries. This expansion demonstrates the association’s growing influence in shaping a more sustainable technology sector. By positioning refurbished devices as a trusted and strategic alternative to new electronics, EUREFAS marks an important step in building a circular economy for Europe.
A mission-driven platform for change
Founded by companies like Foxway and Recommerce, with a combined turnover of more than € 500 million, EUREFAS, is dedicated to creating a credible and standardized refurbishment industry. The association’s central mission is to give European consumers access to reliable and high-quality alternatives to brand-new products, ensuring that sustainability and affordability go hand in hand. According to EUREFAS President Augustin Becquet, refurbishment represents not only a business opportunity but also a climate solution and a matter of economic resilience for Europe. Other members of EUREFAS are amongst others Swappie, asgoodasnew, Rebuy, Flex-IT, Forza, Flip, refurbed, Back Market, Remarketed, 2Services, Cyculus and Panzerglass.

Advocating for fair regulation
EUREFAS is tackling the outdated legal frameworks that place refurbished technology at a disadvantage. One of its key initiatives is the creation of an EU-wide quality label, designed to provide clear standards and enhance consumer trust. In addition, the association calls for stronger Right to Repair rules, ensuring that both consumers and independent repairers can access tools, spare parts, and technical information necessary to extend product lifespans.
Prioritizing reuse over recycling
EUREFAS emphasizes the importance of reuse as a more effective environmental solution compared to recycling. Refurbishment retains greater product value, conserves energy, lowers emissions, and reduces reliance on new raw materials. As Augustin Becquet highlights, prolonging the life of devices also prolongs the lifespan of Europe’s natural resources, offering both environmental and economic benefits.
Building influence in European policy
The association plays a recognized role at the EU level, holding a position within the European Commission’s Expert Group on Waste and a seat in the Ecodesign Forum. These appointments give EUREFAS direct influence over the development of policies on repairability, lifecycle sustainability, and product design standards. By bridging the interests of business, policymakers, and consumers, the association contributes to Europe’s global competitiveness while strengthening environmental commitments.
A united vision for the future
EUREFAS members share a common vision of quality, responsibility, and consumer trust. Their efforts aim to establish refurbished devices, including popular products such as the Apple iPhone, as a mainstream choice that supports climate goals and affordability. Through collaboration, the association is helping Europe take decisive steps toward a circular and resilient digital economy.
