ecoATM, the global leader in smartphone trade-in and re-commerce, has appointed Matt Furlong as Chief Executive Officer, effective 3 September 2025. He succeeds Stan Pavlovsky, who steps down after three years of guiding the company through a period of growth, expansion, and innovation. Matt Furlong joins ecoATM with more than 20 years of leadership across e-commerce, retail, trade-in, and logistics. Most recently, he served as Chief Marketplace Officer at Shutterstock, where he led the company’s commercial strategy. Before Shutterstock, he was CEO of GameStop, where he launched new growth initiatives and introduced a consumer trade-in platform. Furlong also held several senior roles at Amazon, including CEO of Amazon Australia, where he oversaw significant category growth and scaled international operations.
Board highlights Furlong’s proven track record
Lee Solomon, a member of ecoATM’s Board of Directors, expressed strong confidence in the appointment. He emphasized that Furlong’s combination of tech-driven leadership and experience across fast-changing industries makes him the ideal leader to guide ecoATM into its next stage of development.
Furlong outlines future ambitions
In his first statement as CEO, Matt Furlong highlighted ecoATM’s differentiation in convenience, scale, and sustainability. He noted the company’s opportunity to deepen customer engagement, expand market share in smartphone re-commerce, and enhance execution across the business.
Pavlovsky leaves strong legacy
Stan Pavlovsky departs after driving significant growth at ecoATM, including expanding its kiosk network to more than 7,000 locations across the United States. Under his leadership, ecoATM processed tens of millions of devices and advanced its AI-powered pricing technology. He also expanded partnerships with major retail and convenience chains. Pavlovsky described his time at ecoATM as one of the most rewarding phases of his career and expressed confidence in Furlong’s ability to build on this foundation.
Furlong’s career path in focus
Furlong began his career at Procter & Gamble before moving to Amazon, where he held leadership roles in multiple consumer categories and later advised Amazon’s North America Consumer Head. As CEO of Amazon Australia, he expanded operations and navigated pandemic-related supply chain challenges. His leadership roles at GameStop and Shutterstock further established his reputation for scaling businesses, driving customer-focused growth, and managing transformation.
ecoATM continues to expand reach
ecoATM remains the leading player in smartphone re-commerce. With its network of kiosks and its online marketplace Gazelle.com, the company provides consumers with easy access to trade-in services and certified pre-owned devices. This dual approach reduces e-waste, extends device lifecycles, and promotes sustainability in consumer technology.
