The circular IT market is experiencing record growth in Northern Europe. Inrego, one of the leading players in the region, annually reuses more than 400,000 IT products. During the summer months, the company recorded a significant sales increase, with August alone showing more than 30% growth compared with the same period last year.
Economic climate drives adoption
A combination of challenging economic conditions and growing awareness among businesses is driving more companies to reconsider how they purchase, use, and dispose of IT equipment. Circular IT solutions are increasingly being adopted as organizations seek both cost efficiency and sustainability in their operations.
Inrego
Starting in Sweden, Inrego has grown to become a global player in the refurbished IT market. They have offices and production facilities in both Sweden and Finland and have customers in over 90 countries. Inrego continues to promote the idea of reusing technology, helping to shift the perception of used electronics from "shameful" to a smart, sustainable choice.
Strong results despite seasonal trends
Traditionally, the summer period is relatively calm for the secondary IT market, but this year has been an exception. “It is encouraging to see the second-hand market grow so strongly. Usually summer months are quiet, but this year has been different,” said Mattias Aronsson, Sales Director at Inrego.
Microsoft upgrade fuels replacement
One of the key drivers behind the sharp August growth is linked to Microsoft’s transition to Windows 11. From 5 October, Windows 10 will no longer be supported, which has forced many companies to upgrade their IT systems. This has resulted in increased demand for refurbished devices that deliver modern performance at significantly lower cost.
Cost savings and sustainability combined
According to Aronsson, refurbished IT products provide companies with modern technology at just a fraction of the cost while also offering a much lower climate impact. For cost-conscious and sustainability-minded businesses, refurbished has become the natural choice.
