Cashify expands UAE operations to strengthen circular tech strategy

Indian refurbisher Cashify has expanded its operational footprint in the UAE after a year of development in stealth mode. The company confirmed that Dubai will now function as its international sales and sourcing hub. India will continue to serve as the backbone for refurbishing and remanufacturing, providing scale, efficiency, and consistent quality across all product lines.

Integrated global model

This two-country structure creates a fully integrated circular supply chain anchored in India. The company states that the arrangement supports India’s ambition to become a global remanufacturing hub while reinforcing the Government’s Make in India for the World initiative. The UAE expansion is positioned as a strategic step in strengthening this model and unlocking additional global sourcing opportunities.

Origins and evolution

Cashify was founded in 2009 in Gurgaon under the name ReGlobe by Mandeep Manocha, Nakul Kumar, Amit Sethi and Siddhant Dhingra. The business initially focused on electronic waste management consultancy before shifting to a consumer-facing model in 2013 and adopting the Cashify brand. The company soon became one of India’s largest online platforms for used device buybacks, later expanding into offline retail. By late 2022, Cashify operated more than 190 physical stores across the country, enhancing customer accessibility and strengthening trust.

Partnerships and funding trajectory

Since 2013, Cashify has become the official buyback partner for major global brands such as Apple, Samsung, Xiaomi, OnePlus, and Amazon. The company has consistently attracted investment interest, culminating in a US$ 90 million Series E funding round in June 2022. These partnerships and funding milestones have reinforced its position in the secondary market ecosystem.

Core services explained

Cashify’s platform offers a complete suite of services that extend the lifecycle of electronic devices, particularly smartphones. Its device buyback service allows users to sell gadgets online or in store, supported by an AI powered price calculator and free doorstep pickup with instant payment. Refurbished device sales are driven by a 32-point quality check, warranty options, and a structured return policy. Repair services, including doorstep options, are also available, along with accessories designed for smartphone users.

Advancing circularity

Cashify positions itself as a key driver of India’s circular economy. By connecting buyback, refurbishment, remanufacturing, and resale within a single structure, the company aims to reduce waste, support affordability, and improve access to technology. Its new UAE hub broadens this model and moves the company toward becoming a global circular tech player.
