Cambrionix has announced the launch of the ThunderSync5-C16 PD, a multi-port USB hub powered by Thunderbolt 5 technology. The solution is designed to cut mobile device testing and refurbishment times from hours to minutes. By integrating automation and advanced data speeds, the hub aims to transform workflows in enterprise, education, healthcare, retail, and the secondary device market. A great tool for the global secondary market.
Addressing time-consuming challenges
Testing and refurbishing hundreds of smartphones, tablets, or laptops typically requires repetitive manual setup and faces limitations caused by power or USB endpoint issues. The ThunderSync5-C16 PD reduces testing time significantly by enabling zero-touch test configurations and boosting data throughput up to 7x. Cambrionix estimates that the return on investment can be measured in hours instead of months or years.
Speed and charging performance
The hub guarantees minimum speeds of 1.25 Gbps per port and up to 5 Gbps per port. Compared with alternative USB hubs, the ThunderSync5-C16 PD delivers 7x faster data transfer and 8x faster charging. In internal testing, Cambrionix reported the ability to restore 96 devices per hour, while competing hubs managed only between 13 and 15 devices.
Intelligent device management
The hub integrates with Cambrionix Connect Premium, offering enterprise-grade management features. These include one-click DFU mode for Apple iPhone and other iOS devices, flexible per-port power delivery management, scheduled charging, programmable workflows, and remote hub management. Customers can also integrate the solution into their own systems through APIs and command-line tools.
Flexible power delivery
The ThunderSync5-C16 PD provides 285W of shared power output, with configurable power profiles ranging from 4.5W to 60W. This flexibility supports mixed portfolios of devices, optimising charging efficiency and battery longevity while ensuring stability during power-intensive testing scenarios.
Meeting multiple market needs
The hub is positioned for three core markets: software testing, device refurbishment, and mass deployment. For software quality assurance, it speeds up the preparation and validation of devices during operating system and app releases. In the secondary device sector, it enables faster charging, erasing, and configuring of refurbished devices, which is essential for profitability and sustainability. In education, healthcare, and retail, the hub supports large-scale deployments where thousands of devices need to be provisioned quickly and reliably.
Comprehensive package and support
Each ThunderSync5-C16 PD ships with a Thunderbolt 5 host cable, 360W GaN power supply, three years of Connect Premium software, and lifetime access to Connect Standard. The hub also includes 24/7 dedicated global support and a three-year warranty with remote firmware updates. Existing customers can access six months of Connect Premium for free until March 31, 2026.

A trusted enterprise partner
Cambrionix CEO Andy Jones described the product as the company’s “most innovative solution” to date, highlighting its blend of speed, power, and intelligence. With more than 15 years of industry experience and a recent award for Best Use of Technology at the 2025 Manufacturing Business Awards UK, the company continues to expand its position as a trusted partner in mobile device management.
