Global insurtech bolttech has expanded its presence in Africa by entering the Kenyan market through a new collaboration with LOOP, the fintech subsidiary of NCBA Group. The partnership marks a significant step in providing embedded protection and insurance solutions to one of Africa’s fastest growing digital economies. The key outcome of this collaboration will be the launch of LOOP FLEX, a buy now pay later (BNPL) service that combines device financing with built-in protection. Scheduled to roll out in October 2025, LOOP FLEX aims to simplify access to smartphones and other devices by making ownership more affordable while ensuring comprehensive protection.
Integrated device protection and financing
LOOP FLEX merges flexible payment options with mandatory protection embedded in the LOOP customer experience. The protection plan covers theft, accidental and liquid damage, mechanical breakdown, and extended warranty. All repairs will be handled at certified service centres using only genuine components, ensuring quality and longevity.
Details of protection and claims
The programme includes theft protection supported by a police report, with a 10% deductible and gift voucher compensation. Customers will also benefit from one-time repairs for mechanical and liquid damage without deductibles. Certified repair centres will handle all service using genuine parts. The protection extends up to the original value of the device, with claims managed digitally through bolttech’s channels for efficiency and transparency.
Supporting Kenya’s digital economy
Both companies emphasised the importance of the partnership for Kenya’s digital economy. Bolttech stated that the collaboration will help more people afford and safeguard the technology they use daily. LOOP added that working with bolttech strengthens its ability to deliver digital-first financial solutions that enhance the customer experience.
Strengthening Africa’s mobile ecosystem
The entry of bolttech into Kenya through LOOP demonstrates a broader trend of growing digital services across Africa. By combining financing with protection, the LOOP FLEX programme aims to not only increase access to devices like the Apple iPhone but also to extend their lifespan through certified repairs and warranties. This positions the initiative as an important contribution to both financial inclusion and device sustainability in Kenya.
