Largest e-tailer in the Netherlands bol is expanding its catalog with a range of certified refurbished smartphones, tablets, laptops, and smartwatches, bringing consumers a high-quality, sustainable alternative to new electronics. In collaboration with specialized refurbishing partners Fixje, Forza, Leapp, and Renewd, bol aims to deliver the reliability and standards typically associated with new devices. This move marks a significant shift, as bol is not opening its marketplace (Plaza) to just any seller offering used products. Instead, it is purposefully limiting access to certified refurbishers only, ensuring that all listed refurbished and used items meet strict quality and reliability standards. This selective approach underscores bol’s commitment to providing high-quality, trustworthy refurbished electronics through reputable partners on their plaza.
All refurbished devices offered on bol undergo extensive testing, cleaning, and repair as necessary. Each device is inspected across more than 50 points, including battery health, camera quality, and screen functionality, ensuring they meet stringent quality standards. Certified under the Keurmerk Refurbished program—established by Techniek Nederland and local industry leaders — the devices are guaranteed to be fully functional, updated, and carefully maintained.
Keurmerk Refurbished
Keurmerk Refurbished’s certification, highly regarded in the Dutch electronics market, assures that all products meet strict requirements for performance and appearance, giving consumers confidence in their quality. This certification has become an essential indicator for refurbished electronics, with Keurmerk Refurbished only awarded to companies that comply with rigorous testing and after-sales service standards. This initiative aligns with a growing consumer demand for affordable, sustainable tech products, driven by both cost-consciousness and environmental awareness. bol plans to extend this offering to include other refurbished products in the future, such as gaming consoles, kitchen appliances, and even baby strollers.
