Breezy expands trade-in to Incredible Connection stores in South Africa

Late August refurbisher and trade-in enabler Breezy, owned by distributor ASBIS, announced the rollout of its AI-powered trade-in program across 89 Incredible Connection stores in South Africa. Customers of Africa’s largest consumer electronics and IT retailer can now exchange their old devices for instant value, making it easier and more affordable to upgrade to new technology. At launch, the program covers smartphones, both iOS and Android, as well as Apple iPads. MacBooks will follow soon. Customers can apply the trade-in value directly toward the purchase of any product in Incredible Connection stores, from Apple iPhones to accessories. The service provides an accessible way to upgrade to a new Apple device or even purchase a first Apple iPhone or MacBook.

AI-driven assessment process

Breezy’s trade-in model relies on speed, transparency and automation. Each device is evaluated based on more than 55 indicators, using AI-powered photo assessment for accuracy. Apple devices also undergo a dedicated diagnostic tool, introduced by Breezy for the first time in both South Africa and Europe. At this stage, the program is available only in-store, with an online version planned in the near future.

Market potential in South Africa

Breezy sees significant potential for trade-in growth in South Africa, reflecting consumer demand and the strong retail presence of Incredible Connection. According to CEO Andrii Kosar, the expansion highlights the combination of Breezy’s international experience and the professionalism of its local team. The company has scaled quickly, entering new regions while securing strong customer and retailer interest in affordable access to new technology.

Sustainability and device reuse

Sustainability is a key driver of the initiative. Every device traded in at Incredible Connection will be tested and, where necessary, refurbished by Breezy before being resold. This extends product lifecycles, reduces e-waste, and supports a more circular approach to technology. For customers, the model provides both economic and environmental benefits, ensuring that upgrading to the latest Apple iPhone or MacBook is not only affordable but also sustainable.

Incredible Connection’s role in retail

Founded in 1995, Incredible Connection has become South Africa’s largest consumer electronics and IT retailer and the biggest on the African continent. It is also the country’s second-largest Apple reseller and the largest in the multibrand space. The retailer’s scale provides a powerful platform for Breezy to reach a broad base of customers with its trade-in services.
