Amazon has confirmed a wide set of changes to its European Referral and Fulfilment by Amazon fees that will take effect at the end of 2025 and into early 2026. The Amazon referral fee is essentially Amazon’s commission charged to third-party sellers for using its marketplace. Calculated as a percentage of the total sales price (including shipping), the rate varies significantly by product category, typically ranging from 8% to 15%. It is a mandatory cost for every sale. The company said the adjustments are designed to support long term operational efficiency while continuing to provide value for independent sellers across Europe. Independent sellers now account for more than 60% of sales in Amazon’s store. EU based small and medium sized businesses sold more than 1.3 billion products last year and Amazon said the latest fee changes reflect a continued commitment to helping these businesses grow.
Fee reductions across Europe
Amazon will reduce fees by an average of € 0.17 per unit sold across Europe. The company said these reductions are made possible by operational improvements and optimised fulfilment processes across its network. Parcel fulfilment fees will be cut further in the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy and Spain. In these markets, the average reduction will be about € 0.32 per parcel. The company said this follows earlier parcel fee decreases introduced in 2025.
Referral changes by category
Clothing and accessories will see referral fees reduced to 5% for items priced at and up to € 15 and to 10% for items priced between € 15 and € 20. From 1 February 2026, referral fees in several high-volume categories will also change. Home products priced at and up to € 20 will shift from 15% to 8%. Pet clothing and food priced up to €10 will drop from 15% to 5%. Grocery, gourmet, and vitamins, minerals and supplements priced up to €10 will be reduced to 5%.
Expansion of low price FBA
Amazon will expand reduced low price FBA rates to products priced at or below € 20. This will lower FBA fees for newly eligible items by an average of €0.45 per unit. The company said this aims to help sellers offer stronger value for fast moving selection across multiple categories.
Adjustment of promotional fee caps
To support product visibility, Amazon will reduce caps on variable fees for Best Deals and Lightning Deals. The limits will be €300 in Germany, €100 in France, Italy and Spain, and £200 in the United Kingdom. This follows earlier changes in November lowering coupon related fee rates and introducing caps across European stores.
Targeted fee increases for network efficiency
Alongside broad reductions, Amazon will implement selective increases to ensure fulfilment capacity remains available for healthy selection. Adjustments will apply to monthly storage, return to seller and liquidation fees. Amazon will also update FBA fulfilment fees in the Netherlands, Sweden, Belgium, Ireland and Poland. Combined, these targeted increases represent an average rise of €0.02 per unit sold via FBA.
What sellers should prepare for
Amazon said sellers should evaluate how the combined changes affect each product, as impacts will depend on category, price and fulfilment method. The Revenue Calculator, Fee and Economics Preview report and Profit Analytics will be updated with 2026 rates by 15 December, enabling sellers to model margins before the new structure takes effect. The company said it remains committed to helping partners grow and expects the new structure to support a more consistent global fee framework while preserving operational flexibility in Europe.
