Alchemy, a circular technology company based in Dublin, has reported record sales through its global refurbished tech trading platform, Callisto. The platform facilitates wholesale transactions of used and refurbished technology, including smartphones, tablets, laptops, and accessories. Alchemy, amongst others, runs Apple trade-in program in certain regions. Callisto streamlines sourcing for wholesalers, traders, resellers, refurbishers, and e-commerce stores. By offering transparent pricing and secure transactions, it minimizes supply chain disruptions and unnecessary costs. The platform also supports retailers, carriers, and OEMs in monetizing refurbished inventory.
Secure transactions and dynamic pricing
According to Alchemy, Callisto ensures protected, seamless trading. The platform includes a “Make an Offer” feature, allowing buyers to negotiate prices dynamically, increasing accessibility to quality refurbished stock at competitive rates. a feature that a lot of companies will like as it gives them the opportunity to buy devices at a price that fits their need. James Murdock, co-founder and CMO at Alchemy, highlights Callisto’s impact: “The platform connects thousands of wholesale buyers to trusted global sellers, making quality refurbished stock more accessible.” Alchemy continues to invest in Callisto to enhance its functionality and industry standards.
Strong performance and environmental impact
In the past 12 months, Callisto added 620 new buyers, recording a gross merchandise value (GMV) of € 550 million. Since its launch in April 2019, the platform has processed € 1.5 billion in GMV, reflecting 2,181% growth. Alchemy has facilitated over 7 million device transactions, preventing 424 million kilograms of CO2 emissions.
A key part of Alchemy’s strategy
Callisto is central to Alchemy’s expansion, serving over 3,000 global buyers and sellers. The company manages trade-in programs for major technology firms like Apple and operates facilities for warehousing, grading, and shipping worldwide. Alchemy also owns Loop Mobile, a brand of used mobile phones, operating in key markets across Europe, the U.S., the U.K., and Australia selling mainly on the well-known marketplaces.
